Zhaun had a talk with me about my scanouts. Apparently since the company gets a tax write off for any donations I still get in trouble and take responsibility for the amount of things I donate. So it's win-win for them. They get to save money and get mad at the person who saved them money for how much they saved them. He wants me to give the product away, basically, and mark them down to half of cost plus a penny which is the lowest we can go. This makes me mad. Well, I have a way to weasel around his stupidity. (he says we're a shrink based store, which I guess means we make no profit because of how low we put our markdowns at) I'll just mark everything the way I normally do up until the day it expires. My customers are used to buying markdown Darigold milk (which is the main issue, no one wants to pay 5.00 for a gallon of name brand when they can pay 2.50 for a gallon of private label) at 2.25-2.89. If they see these milks at 1.50 they'll be off the shelf in minutes. So I have no worries about that part. And instead of doing the intelligent thing and marking down only "today" and "tomorrow" (a lot of times I'll mark in my mind something that expires in two days and say I'll mark it down tomorrow but by tomorrow it has sold at normal price at full profit) I'll start three or four days early and bring the price down a little each day. That way I might make a penny or two off of it. Zhaun says profit is for buyers and stuff, and is therefore irrelevant. If this is so why does the ICM track these things and what point are 709 reports? 709s are one of the most important aspects of the ICM job. You spend all week preparing to balance them and gathering various reports to help you balance them. And it is impossible to work the 709s if you don't take sales into account. The higher your sales the better you're doing, the better the store's doing, the more hours you get, and etc. And for some reason I now I have to stay under 150 with donations added on there. But it really doesn't matter how small my scanouts are, corporate always takes whatever I scan out and add a hundred or two to it. If I have 110 dollars of scanouts for a week corp claims I scanned 270. This is why I print out and keep my scanouts for every week so if I get in trouble for them again I can bring my book in and show them. I have often left notes on Zhaun's desk saying, "Here's what corporate claims I scanned out, here's what I actually scanned out, there's over a hundred dollars of difference here and I don't know where they got it from." I even showed Julie a time or two. Of course no one ever looks into it, they just say they will.
I didn't have to offload any trucks because they all showed up at 2:00. We were totally out of things to do. Besides various cleaning stuff. Dustin came in at 11:45. Such a waste of hours. Just cause he's special. I was actually done with everything Thursday night. On Friday I managed to fill some stuff people had bought but that's it. Luckily I had markdown carts I could do to spend the time after Dustin came to work. That took till 1:30. Then I filled eggs and ended up leaving around 1:50.
On those markdown carts, Zhaun had three of them for me to do, plus four boxes of discontinued toilet paper. I believe I've said that night crew will leave single items in the markdown carts that they don't feel like dealing with. But yesterday one of the carts had a bunch of caselot items that had broken open. Like a case of cans where the plastic ripped. The cans were still good and could be sold on the shelf like normal but Zhaun wanted them marked down. I told Bonnie and we went and told Julie and I said I wasn't going to mark them down. Julie agreed. I also told her about one of the carts that was entirely full of outdated product, I said I can't mark those down either and she, of course, agreed with that too. Then we got complaining in general about Zhaun and I told her about the time he made me throw away product that expired in the next few days (like "today" was the 15th and they expired on the 18th). I doubt anything will change but it felt good to tell her about all that.
Me and Bonnie picked through the carts as I marked them down and we both ended up with a cartload of markdowns. lol
I bought more Botan Rice Candy 0.75 Oz.
We were going to go up to my mom's today but when I got out of bed this morning Victor woke up too and said he had a migraine during his sleep. Ok, no problem, he gets those occasionally, shouldn't interfere with anything. Then a while later I heard him throwing up. He still had the migraine. It's another of those in his other eye. What these seem to be fixing are his night vision. So I'm basically going to spend today alone because he'll be sleeping till noon or 1 or 2 or whatever. He's up right now and seems pretty functional, but I don't think he'd be ok to go anywhere.
I managed to mess up my site, I meant to put adds on it but I turned the entire site into an add. Oops... I fixed it though and now I'm putting adds up on each page. I guess I'll listen to music and spend today doing that. Maybe in a bit I'll cut more fabric and start a load of laundry.
