Egg Nog

Last Thursday I went to work and found a note from my Meadowgold rep saying I could order egg nog for next Thursday's milk load. Yes! Kinda early, but that's great. Victor loves egg nog. I love every year surprising him with it as early as I can. And since I am dairy manager I can do things like that. I brought some home sneakily, in my lunch bag and wrapped in one of my fabric shopping bags I always bring with me. I stealthily poured some in a cup and hid it on a shelf under my desk. I waited till the pizza we were having was out of the oven and ready to be eaten before I told him that according to my Darigold rep we wouldn't have egg nog till the end of October due to label changes. He was all weirded out and disappointed by this. I then picked up the cup and handed it to him saying, "Meadowgold on the other hand delivered theirs today." He was delighted. He took a sip and the look on his face was as though he were in heaven. Sometimes when he's eating a really good meal he'll get happy-full eyes, this is a half-closed, sleepy kind of expression. He got those eyes immediately and said, "Sometimes it's good to be married to a dairy manager." :) Oh, and the quarts are cheaper than the half gallons (yes, I have half gallons already! Usually I don't get those until later on) by 0.01 cent. So I bought a half gallon. I also bought a pumpkin spice.

Let's see... work... I went on break with Bonnie and Bret was in the backroom and watched us. As if we weren't allowed a break or something. We both of us only take one break a day, so I think it's ok if we step outside for a smoke/fresh air break (she smokes, I enjoy the fresh air upwind of her).

And I discovered some bagger thought it would be a good idea to put leaking milk inside... a paper bag. 0_0 Yes, a paper bag. *shakes head* The bottom had, obviously, broken and the milk was all over.

On the 2% shelf I had 6 gallons on the top shelf, two on the right and two on the left and then two back behind the ones on what's their left (my right when I'm in the cooler). So a woman came up and took one of the ones on the right. So to cover this hole I took one of the spare gallons and put it in that spot. She took from the exact same spot and I pushed the other spare over into it. How many times do I have to fix your stupid before it goes away?

I noticed someone decided to put a 1% gallon in with the half gallons and had to walk all the way around to fix it.

Then I was filling coffee mate. I don't know what it is about the bottom shelf but everyone seems to like taking all the ones on the right and shoving them to the left and I always have to fix it. Today I decided it would be fastest to just take everything off the shelf and lay on the floor to fix it.

And while filling the coffee mate I was going from kneeling to standing up and I'm not sure what I did but my left hip cramped up and I had to sit down for a few minutes until it was better, then it was a little tender the rest of the day.

On my way to break a customer decided I didn't exist and tried to drive their cart through me. I only barely managed to dodge out of the way in time. No word of sorry or excuse me.

When I came back from my break (one peanut butter sandwich and one turkey and cheese) I was so very cold. But I got better.

I had to do three of Zhaun's markdown carts. There was some stuff in there that didn't need marking down. Whatever single item this or that night crew doesn't want to deal with they have Zhaun mark down. Well, I'm not doing that. So I shoved these items into their backstock.

Oh, I found a 1% gallon in the half gallons... again.

And I watched an old lady put red cottage cheese in with the blue. Facing backwards of course.

Bret's new paranoid delusion is that the bypass they're building will result in a loss for us because it will make things easier for people to get to Wal-Mart quick. *sigh* He's so pessimistic.

I hate the sound of people taking yogurt. I just cringe. I hate the sound of yogurt falling over because I know they won't fix it. I hate how they like to pound on the shelf (I don't think that's what they're actually doing but it sure sounds like it. Whenever I hear someone taking yogurt I know something bad will happen. I usually don't even have to peek through the shelf to know I'm going to have to walk all the way around just to fix something that would have taken them no time at all to do.

I was filling eggs and we all remember from the other day when I said I have 6 facings. Well, I was in front of maybe one of them and my wheeler was in front of the rest. Normally when this happens someone says excuse me, or could you hand me, or something. Suddenly I hear my wheeler being moved so I look and this behemoth of a woman was inches from me shoving her way in to get some eggs. No sorry, no excuse me. I was really upset and felt like I wanted to cry angry tears but I didn't have the energy.

Me, "FOTR is starting to pick up."
Victor, "No, no it's not. You just get used to the torture after a while."
hehe But I beat my high score! I only made it to 100 pages last time I attempted reading this book. Now I'm at 120.

I was cutting fabric this morning and Bonecrusher was super wound up from the crinkly of the pattern paper and everything and he was really getting in the way. So I shut him in the computer room. We have a little hole in the wall to feed the phone line through and he started clawing at that trying to get out so he could be with me. Victor let him out and he ran full speed into my lap. I almost started crying that was so cute and sweet and sad.

I am using Simplicity Sewing Pattern 5840, Misses', Men's, Teens' Renaissance Robe / Tunic / Star Wars Costumes as the tunic instead of 5540. Basically 5840 replaced 5540 when they retired it. There's some differences so far, such as 5840 doesn't have the shoulder pleat and shows an open side seam for an inch or two on either side near the hem. But both of these things are simple fixes if one preferred it one way or the other. The instructions are a little different too, 5840 doesn't show any stay stitching. And 5840 shows a place to put velcro to hold the tabbards on, which is really nice cause I had to figure that part out for myself with 5540. But it's irrelevant as I'm not making tabbards. I'm making Simplicity Pattern Long and Short Missus Vest, the one in the top left corner. I figure I'll either let my belt hold it shut or I'll get a frog and create a front facing.
