A short post for a change

I forgot to say something about Friday. On my way to work I pass behind Napa and sometimes in the early morning they have their semi parked out in the middle of the street completely blocking it so I have to go entirely around the block in order to get to work. I know they can pull up far enough to let one lane be open, I've seen them do it before. It has to be all kinds of illegal to block an entire street like that.

Today was Sunday. Usually people are so angry on Sundays. And it's one of our busiest days which is awful cause the front's always underscheduled and I end up checking a lot.

So I got to work and the milk was empty. Then I noticed someone had left a gallon of leaking milk in my damage cart and it leaked all over during the night. There was also a pack of 5 dozen eggs that was broken and had leaked all over perfectly good product that I then had to throw away due to it being soaked in egg. As I was throwing away that leaky milk I found that no one had put the clippy on the compactor door to keep it closed. And no one had emptied the garbage and it was overflowing onto the floor. So I had to take care of that. Finally I could do my stuff, fill eggs, face, do shelf reviews. On Sunday I always have to face Wall Deli for some reason. And I have to fill their holes. I don't understand why I have to do this. On Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays when there isn't anyone in dairy until 10:30 Wall Deli doesn't come over and face my dept or fill my holes. Everyone always falls over themselves about Wall Deli and run around to make it perfect over there but if dairy is in shambles they tell me to keep up.

My back hurt today and not in the usual spot. It hurt way up near the shoulders but a tiny bit higher. Victor felt it when I got home and said my shoulders had locked up. Lovely.

I was so tired and sleepy today. Victor snored a lot last night.

A customer wanted help finding tapioca mix so I took one down off the shelf to show her and she put it back. Sideways. o_0

Today we had shops. This is where secret shoppers come in and grade the store. Secret shops are fake. We get warning ahead of time that they'll be in the store. We have identified some of the "secret" shoppers. These shoppers are not honest. For example: Dairy got 100% on cleanliness for a year or two. Suddenly I went from 100% to 30% overnight. After that I never got anything over a 20% and I generally fail entirely. Also, we got neon vests for all the baggers that say "Courtesy Clerk" in big bold letters. We usually fail on bagger attendance anyway because they mark on their sheet that there were no baggers around. There are some things about being on shop that I hate. For one thing, when I get called to check (which is a lot seeing as one of the requirements of passing is that there be at least one checker standing around without anything to do) I have to turn on my light. If I turn on my light I never get out of the checkstand. I have been up there for over a half hour because no one came to rescue me. I am not allowed to turn off my light until all the customers are gone. Chris, the CSM who should be fired, has actually come up while I was handing my last customer their receipt and turned on my light only for me to turn around, turn it off, and leave. So it was Chris again today and he was his usual self. Which meant I got left up front for over 15 minutes for no reason. He called me off my lunch to check and when he got mad at me for taking so long I said I had to put my lunch away in order to get up there and he seemed pleased in a spiting kind of way. I'm not even sure why I was needed. Our bookkeeper wasn't called at all today. And she's supposed to be the first one called. I'm supposed to be a last resort. I ended up checking for most of the time between 11:50 and 1:30. And not like he could ever get in a checkstand. He has such an attitude problem. And for being a CSM he showed up for work the other day in big earrings and necklaces, and at one point he had his hair dyed a kind of sickly pinkish red. Not something you want in a manager. And one time, I was in shopping after my night person and gone home and the eggs that were on sale were empty to I asked Chris if he could get a bagger back to fill the eggs. And he said no. I told him they were on sale. He said the customers would have to buy something else then. That was a complete disregard for customer service.

I had to shove someone's garbage down into the compactor because they felt it was ok to just leave it sitting on the edge. I also had to push the crush button after two or three people today. Not many people seem to realize the compactor doesn't automatically crush itself.

The warehouse decided I needed a few cases of sour cream I don't sell so I had to mark those down. Especially since they were short dated and only came with 8 days on them.

I sliced my thumb with my box knife but this was ok as I was wearing my gloves and the blade didn't go through the fabric. It did split the rubber though.

I found that a customer had broken a yogurt... and proceeded to set it broken side down on top of some packs of yogurt that were in cardboard boxes. This yogurt then leaked and got all over the other yogurt and I had to clean them up. I just hope I'm able to sell them. I'll probably end up having to mark them down and selling them at a loss just cause some idiot can't figure out that broken side goes up, not down.

I was around facing and saw someone pick up a yogurt then put it back down facing backwards. She then picked up one from the top of a stack and then put it down in front of the bottom one instead of on top of it.

There was a sample lady today, and once when I came back from checking I found a customer had decided one of my empty egg boxes was a garbage can and threw away the cup from the sample in it. Thanks.

We ended up having the chicken Asian thing tonight. It wasn't as good as last time. We think it has to do with the chicken we used. Victor forgot to take it out of the freezer until later in the day so we had to quickie defrost it. Plus I don't know if the tofu really goes well in it. I think I actually preferred the bamboo shoots.

I did not want to leave my kitty today. I felt so sad and lonely being at work without him. My heart broke to think that he was at home missing me. Someday I'll be able to spend all day every day with him and that will make me happy.
