New egg nog

Work
Yesterday I overslept. Apparently I  had forgotten to turn on the alarm. Victor was woken up by Bonecrusher and saw what time it was and woke me up. 5:23, so not too bad. I was able to get ready and leave in time.

Pretty much the moment I walked through the door Zhaun was all, "There's two pallets of shelves you need to take out to the container, here's the key. You'll probably have to make a bale. You might have to do my shelf review. Mark down the cart of cereal in the trailer." ugh

As I was facing I noticed all the tags I'd made for the seasonal coffee mate had been pulled, which I had expected as the new add had come out. But I didn't expect them to not make new ones! And no one had put any of the new flavors out. I had to do that myself but I didn't have time to make tags. Robin came by and said she'd make some later but she never did.

And for some reason no one put any natural sour cream out even though it had come in on Monday's load.

And someone had put damaged product in the food bank's donation cart.

And no one had crushed the compactor or shoved their garbage down into it or emptied the garbages or anything.

Otherwise the day was pretty slow, I made a bale around 9:30 and then was going to do my order. But the truck showed up then. It was deli/frozen. So I was getting ready for that. Except when he had backed in and we had the doors open I saw he also had a balance of grocery and I had to get the backroom ready. So I did that and got grocery in. And I was pretty upset with the timing of the truck because I was going to go on break at 10 and I was really hungry. And to make it worse grocery showed up at 10 which meant I had to finish up this truck and then do that truck and I wouldn't get a break. Because if you only have an hour and a half left why bother? But good news came when Zhaun came by and told me I was training Chad, who apparently quit Pepsi and that's why I haven't seen him in a while. Nice. He's a good, hard worker. So I got him to help me. And of course we had issues with frozen. We had 9 pallets to somehow fit into 5 spaces cause that's all the freezer had room for. I managed to clean out room for one more, so we got 6 in. I set two pallets of bakery to the side along with a pallet of frozen chicken. Let Meat Dept figure out what to do with it, since they refuse to get their freezer ready. (we have two freezers, grocery and meat, and you can just about never get into the meat freezer) While doing the grocery bit there was a pallet that had blown out at the bottom and the pallet on top of it was leaning. I looked it over and then decided we would have to down-stack it. The guys, however, decided I could simply take the top pallet off with the stacker. I knew I wouldn't be able to but I humored them. And I was right. After 15 minutes or so they had knocked it over enough that they finally agreed with me. *eyeroll* Men.

I got called to check right as we finished deli/frozen. After that I ran off for a break and left Chad to get the wheelers out of the backroom (since we had to put wheelers into the back room in order to reach the meat cooler). While on break they called me to check twice and I ignored them. But I did not enjoy my break at all because of that and I spent most of it trying to get my legs to relax because they were too tensed. I got back to the backroom and they called me again, but this time Chad spoke up and said he knew how to check so I sent him to do it. But they called again so I had to go. We had me and Chad, plus the bookkeeper checking because we only had one checker. Good job, Deana! After three years or so you'd think she would know how to schedule by now. Anyway, I only got called to check once more after that that I actually went up, the rest of the day I sent either Chad or Dustin in my place.

And I was right, btw, it took until 12:30 to finish with the trucks. They did it again, btw, stacked a pallet on top of a pallet of chips. I showed Bret. Also, all our Christmas stuff came in.

I got in some more of the holiday door stuff. All my Kroger Egg Nog came in. We have vanilla, pumpkin, low fat, and regular. I really do not like the new labels they slapped on them. Instead of, say, light green with holly berries and gold ribbon we have a picture of some random people holding hands in a circle or something lame like that (I have yet to look closely). The vanilla tastes delicious!! And Boney really likes it too. We also got in some of the International Delight creamers and the Southern Comfort egg nog. I believe we also got in the Mountain Dairy and Lactaid egg nogs.

And Michael, our reset guy, told me that our remodel starts Monday. Oh. Well. Be nice if they'd, you know, tell us these things in advance. Last anyone knew no one knew anything about it, when it would be, if we were getting it this year or next year, or if we were getting it at all. I know they've been sending us all sorts of shelving and stuff. I hear remodels are super fun. One of the drivers was telling me about how he was at a remodel once and customers would remove barricades, walk under cranes holding slabs of cement, and then be unable to find their way out. I swear customers are like what you get when you mix lemmings, ants, and toddlers. I mean not all are that way, certainly, it just seems the vast majority are, and the ones that are stick out far more in your mind than the ones that aren't.

Me and all the department heads are going to a meeting tomorrow at 9 and supposedly it's about the remodel. I've known about the meeting since Monday.

Oh, oh, and while offloading grocery I saw Deana leading P&G around. They went into my cooler. Lovely!! We all know she did that on purpose. See, P&G walk the store around the outlier departments, service deli, bakery, produce, meat, and then dairy and the backroom. So when they show up I have plenty of time (usually an hour at least) to sweep, mop, get the ceiling swept fans dusted, and pick boxes off the floor. But Deana chose not to tell me about it. Thanks! I bet I failed. In fact I'm almost certain I failed. And if anyone says anything to me about it I'll say, hey, Deana didn't tell me about it so what was I supposed to do, grab a bottle of bleach and run past them telling them to wait outside the door for a few minutes while I cleaned up?

As for what Zhaun wanted me to do, I made a bale. He did his own shelf review. I didn't have time to mark down the cereal. I gave Dustin the keys to the container and acted like taking the shelving out to the container was originally his responsibility and that Zhaun had told me to tell him to do it. I never said so, but that was how I acted.

Video Games
Been playing lots of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow. Very, very excellent game. I'm at the end of Chapter VI. I've only had to look up help three times so far. And what's kinda funny is every so often you come to a puzzle you have to solve and if you can't solve it you can choose to unlock the answer at the cost of experience points. Well, one of these puzzles was a drag the statue and reflect the sunlight ones. I saw that and immediately went, "Pfft! I'm a Zelda fan! I can do these puzzles in my sleep!" The story is so engrossing it's really hard to stop playing once I start. I keep telling myself, just a little further, I just want to see what happens, just a little further. In fact after this post I'm going to go play some more. Or cut out the pieces for my vest or check my lightsaber. ... I should eat so I'll get some ramen going (chicken flavor) and then check my lightsaber. I glued something on and I doubt it'll stay. I put it in a clamp overnight (a makeshift one, I used a wrench that has a twisty bit, but now that I think about it we have an actual vice thingie I could have used instead, oh well). But I still don't think it'll stay.

Food
We had Asian lettuce wraps again last week and they were super delicious. I really like them. Then we tried British style and I really didn't like it. We had Creamy Pasta Tuna Helper last night and I have no idea what to do today. Maybe another Tuna Helper, or perhaps chicken and rice. Probably chicken and rice, rice sounds really good to me right now.
