Work
I forgot to say it yesterday but I was filling the milk when I saw a butterfly struggling to fly but it kept landing on the floor all confused. So I grabbed a box and headed out to help it. It seemed interested in the box and landed on the edge. I was about to try to coax it into the box when Brad came barreling into the aisle and it took off and I never saw it again. I don't like Brad, not just cause of this. When I'm offloading trucks he'll park wheelers and carts in my way and I'll push them out of my way only for him to push them back into my way. And he throws cardboard in the garbage constantly, which is such a waste as our garbage isn't recycled! Our bales are, though, but he doesn't use the baler often.
Today I was a little late, which no one noticed or cared. I think part of that was due to my falling back asleep after the alarm went off. Oops, lol. I didn't sleep for long though cause Victor woke me back up.
We had the grocery truck right away so I had to do that and it was that driver from the other Wednesday who didn't know if he was getting returns or not. I had to explain to him again how to put pallets in not sideways and he finally figured it out and went, "Oh! All this time I thought they were square." What??? How could you possibly think they were square! And then he ignores me and puts them in sideways anyway. *sigh* We had a pallet of cake mixes we had to down-stack because it was leaning too badly and neither of us could fix it. Him due to being an idiot, me due to, well, sometimes you just can't fix a leaner.
Bonnie told me that she and Zhaun got into a fight and were yelling at each other over Darby. Apparently Zhaun hired her back!! I didn't even know he could do that. His excuse was that she had the best inventory in the store. Yeah. No. Inventory 2009 her department shrank 14,000. After that she worked two or three months, which would have had no baring on our 2010 Inventory. Our 2010 Inventory we shrank 7,000 in Wall Deli. We found out our corporate human resources manager was going to be dropping by today but he never showed up. So Bonnie talked to Bret and Julie and they agreed that they would all keep an eye on Darby and see how it goes. Apparently they believed Zhaun.
Paula, our Meadowgold Rep, came in today so I told her about all the leakers we're having and she tried to blame it on us pushing it onto the shelves too hard. Um, no. She called Todd, their production guy, and he said they would fix it, that it was probably the lids.
I also had a talk with Fred, the Darigold guy, and told him he needs to fix his truck cause it's been running at 43 and 45 degrees. Anything over 40 we have the right to refuse and anything over 45 we have to refuse. He said they're going to defrost the truck and he blamed some of it on Jim leaving the load sitting out too long before it was loaded. Jim is Fred's partner, but Jim's kinda worthless.
Deli/Frozen showed up with even more grocery. Which was bad since we were already full up. Somehow me and Bonnie found room for about 12-13 more boards. It was a woman driver. Odd. You don't see many of those. In fact she's only the third I've run into. She was barely a she at anyway, loose baggy pants, flat chested, short hair, we figure it was a she cause her voice and name were both feminine. She actually helped me offload. The other two women drivers I've known didn't help. Course she didn't grab a jack and hop in but she did help with leaners and pushed and etc. One of the first pallets we took off I had to brace myself against the side of the trailer and hold up a pallet while Bonnie used the electric jack to get it off the truck. Because someone at the warehouse decided to stack a pallet of stuff on top of a pallet of chips. Yes, on top of a pallet of chips. I called Bret over and he came and his shoulders slumped and he had the "omg, how can anyone be so stupid" look on his face and then he ran and got the camera and took pictures. He said that there's a way you can go on the computer and submit things about trucks and loads and Zhaun knows how. So I told him Zhaun didn't mention it to me and he rolled his eyes and muttered to himself. Zhaun doesn't show anyone how to do anything, hardly. And when he does he goes, "Oh, you go there, under that one thing, and it's right there, it's called something oh what was it, oh, I'll show you" and then he'll go through it fast so you don't really know what to do. I guess I'll have to try to drag it out of him sometime enough that I can go back on my own and see if I can stumble through it. You know I had to show him how to submit credits cause he didn't know how. ...actually I was the only person in the store who knew how to do it and I had to show Julie, Bonnie, and everyone else. But that's only cause I used to call my credits in to corporate and the guy stopped doing it and gave me an 800 number to call and they talked me through it.
Anyway, deli/frozen took forever and while doing it Bret called me to check. He just saw me with that pallet of chips he knew I was offloading. But he called me anyway. *sigh*
Hair
I wore the nautilus bun today and put hair sticks through it. My hair sticks are actually bamboo skewers I cut down to size. I don't know where actual ones are sold. I haven't seen them in any of the stores I've looked at. I haven't checked Claires though, I don't really go in there. Anyway, it stayed put really, really, really well. In fact it stayed put so well I think I'll be wearing it more often at work. Never would have thought that a bun without hair ties or pins or anything would stay put so well but it did! I don't think I actually even needed the sticks. When I got home I almost had to pry it out of shape to get it to come down.
Costumes
We went to Home Depot for lightsaber parts, finally. I'll take pictures of everything I got later, it's late and I'm tired right now. But the short of it is that I got a 1 1/4" diameter pipe, black wire, a D-Ring, a 1 1/8" plug, and something or other I found in the electronics section as my emitter. I'm still missing the blade length adjuster, an ignition, and something fancy to go around the bottom. I think I have an idea for that. I'll explain my design tomorrow.
Victor got a 1 1/2" pipe, a sprinkler head for his bottom thing and some fancy sink connector with a rubber o-ring kinda thing on it as his emitter. I have black vinyl left over from a failed attempt at boot making that we'll cut out and glue on as his grip. The sprinkler head has a twisty thing on it that he'll use as his blade length adjuster.
We did not go to Lowes because Victor's tooth was bothering him badly. But that's ok cause I might have things I need here at home, I need to look through my scrap drawer and see what I've got. We will probably deffinately need to go to Lowes for the number 7 bronze nut or whatever it is that's commonly used as the blade length adjuster. I don't need to use it, but I feel special cause it's identical to the ones used for the movies.
I also got the shoulders cut down on my tunic and have the sleeves pinned and ready for sewing.
Food
On the beef stew with corn bread: I didn't like it. Victor did, though, and so I let him finish mine since he liked it that much. Tomorrow should be interesting. We're having some sorta Asian lettuce wraps. It has water chestnuts in it. Yay! And cubed beef (like for stew). And rice. And weird mini corn on the cob. I found a recipe and Victor already knows how to do that so we got stuff for that too. I need to just buy a bunch of water chestnuts to have on hand.
