SPOILER

I thought for sure that Boromir died in part 1? Perhaps it happens in the second book and they moved it to the first movie so they wouldn't have to pay the actor for a second movie. Kinda like how they moved the history of Gollum to the beginning of the third movie. Course I dunno, maybe they recap at the beginning of the third book. Anyway, Faramir is another reason I want to read these books, he's angsty. I think I even started tearing when he said, "You wish I had died instead of he."

Anyway, now I am re-reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. I've only read it once. I've read Sourcerer's Stone something like eight or nine times. But that's because I re-read the entire series every time a new book came out. I came into it about the time Goblet of Fire was released. Sometime a little after that I believe. And I remember my Aunt had sent SS to me for Christmas I think it was? And I held onto it and I kept it on my shelf and finally I started reading it. I read it in three days. And then we bought me the second book, which I never really liked that much. And then we got me GOF. But we could not find Prisoner of Azkaban anywhere. My mom surprised me with it for Christmas and I was so happy. And to this day it's still my favorite of the 7. So I've only read Half Blood Prince twice. And Order of the Phoenix I think three or four times. So with the DH movie part 1 coming up on the 19th I figure I should read that. And, btw, I was on the Trust Snape side within a week of HBP being released. I angsted for a day or two until one of my friends pointed out that he might still be a good guy. Oh, Severus, how I weep for you.
And then after that I'll read Twin Towers.
And then after that I might restart the Green Rider series. A spoilerful semi-review is below.
Green Rider
First Rider's Call: Green Rider #2
The High King's Tomb: Book Three of Green Rider
Blackveil: Book Four of Green Rider
*SPOILERS ALSO SPOILER FOR EMMA*
I say that technically she's ok to marry the king because she's descended from the prince of whatever-country-across-the-sea's best friend. I don't care that this best friend was a street urchin before he was picked up as a pet for the prince, it still counts for something that he became the lead general or whatever. But I guess she probably doesn't want that to become public knowledge. I say whatshername dies in the 4th (or the way it's dragging maybe the fifth or sixth!) book. I had predicted whatshername would die in the 3rd book but I guess Kristen Britain wanted the angst/passion to grow. Like the moment when their hands touched at the end of book 3, and then later when he went to find her but she had run off already. It's like I want to see them finally break down and go for it, but at the same time I'm enjoying the build up. And for all I know the king and the other lady (the one he's basically being forced to marry for the sake of his country) will settle down and be happy. Though I thought that the King's cousin and her would get together, but I dunno. I know I'm not being very specific, but the only name I remember is Karigan. I think the other lady is Elizabeth but who knows. Oh, and don't forget the telescope scene from book 1! Where the king is being lovey and familiar with her in her vision of the future, but the future's always in motion, so I don't know. And it's not just the romance that makes me read these books. The story is awesome in and of itself. Hey, I just remembered another, Mapstone. Yay, I have now remembered two names from one of my favorite series. :p I keep wanting to call the king Marvin for some reason, but I know that's not right. I think it's amusing how she tried to play to the gay community in book 3. It was like an awkward step for her, as well as Karigan's other thoughts. I get the feeling that when (if?) the king and Karigan get together she won't show anything. But that doesn't mean it won't be good. I mean, just reading Jane Austen's Emma, at the end when they're walking together, that was good romance. And they were walking politely side by side! It's all in the buildup and how you write the end. And so far... Karigan/King has had a three book buildup. And I believe book 3 was something like 5 or 6 hundred pages. But then again, when Karigan had that dream about the king, that was well-written. So who knows, maybe she could pull it off. Not sure if I would really honestly want to see that outside of fanfiction though. Maybe a "they start kissing, fade to starry sky" kind of scene would be the furthest I would want it to get in canon. I'm not sure. I would have to think about it. Whatever she does I'm sure it'll be great. And of course I can't wait to see what happens with Blackveil. The title of the book being Blackveil is eerie. I loved the scenes that take place there, and I can't wait to see more of that land. And the necromancer, oooo. Also loved the introduction of the king's cousin, I get the feeling he'll be a bigger character in book 4. Also want to see what happens to the Berry sisters. (or whatever their name is) I wonder if they'll play a bigger part now that they're pretty much wandering until their house regrows. (it's a magic house and it got destroyed in book 3)
*END SPOILERS*
Karigan is a really good character. I like her a lot. I also like that these books are written by basically a normal person. If I remember my history correct the author started off as just a regular park ranger who rides lots of horses and wrote bits and pieces of a story in her spare time until one day it was published. The books have a very real feel to them. They are fantasy, but they have a sense of reality to them. I think I would call them fantasy/adventure. The romance, while I did obsess a little over it up there, would only be a sub-genre, because it's certainly not it's first. I also enjoy the world it's set in and it's history. I think a full review will have to wait until I have reread the books so I can have everyone's names. Book 4 is on Feb 1st. eeee! I don't know what to do!!! I might go hardcover, because the rest of my books are messed up. I have two normal paperbacks, one large style paperback, so why not go for a hardcover. Maybe one day I'll replace my entire collection with hardbacks. I don't think I can wait a whole year for book 4 with everyone else already haven read it. Not that I really know of a fan community, though I know there is a fan base, however small. It's kinda funny how I got into this series, actually. I got a good feeling from the first book when I found it at a thrift store when I was about 13 or 14. ...goodness, that means I've been reading this series for ten years. It certainly took her long enough to write a second book, but after that the series really took off and she put out a third book within the next few years, and now book 4's coming out two years later I think it is. This series is deffinately in my top five. It goes Star Wars, Harry Potter, Green Rider, Alice in Wonderland, and I don't know what, maybe Frankenstein. And yes, I know technically it's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking Glass and What Alice Found there, but to make it simple I call it Alice in Wonderland.
Oh, I love Alice in Wonderland. No matter how many times I re-read that book I find something new. And of course I love the chess setup. I had to have an edition that had the chessboard! I don't care if it didn't have the pictures, but it had to have the chess setup and the poems. You know, like the Alice Liddel poem and the Golden Afternoon poem, and etc. And you know, I really don't care what Lewis Carrol did when he wasn't writing these books. I really don't. I love Alice in Wonderland and that's that.
And now I guess it's waaay past time for bed. I'll write more tomorrow.
