ehxausted

Victor was supposed to have that bad tooth pulled today. But last night they were doing the "don't forget, you have an appointment tomorrow" notice and they also said that he had to have 2,000 dollars ready. What??? To pull a tooth? This was the biggest reason we searched and searched to find a dentist who could pull it was to avoid the 2-3,000 it costs to do a root canal. Apparently they wanted to do some sorta reconstructive surgery or something. For pulling a tooth? All he needs is it ripped out. Obviously he skipped the appointment. So now we're back to searching for someone who will just pull it. Which was a big waste of time because we made this appointment back in, like, August, because it was the closest available date they had. And for some reason the tooth just doesn't seem to want to fall out on it's own.

Work:
Today was pretty bad. First I had to move all the pallets off of one side of the trailer so Jules could get the shopping carts out of the back. This was more of a two-person job because of the angle of the trailer and the ramp. I had to have help on a lot of it. And one of the times a bunch of totes slid forwards on a wheeler and squished my little finger on my right hand which still hurts. And I broke another fingernail. My right hand's nails almost look like guy nails! ew.

After all that Doug Andrus showed up, around 9:00, and they always have deli/frozen, so I moved all the wheelers out of the hallway and into the trailer. Because the backroom was full of those pallets I had moved. Then I looked inside his trailer and saw that it was grocery. I checked his paperwork. Yep. Grocery and frozen. So I couldn't even put the carts back down the hallway because I had to get frozen in too. I got mad at the driver for not telling me he had grocery. And then we got moving stuff. All the carts went outside, all the pallets went back into the trailer, and then we put some of the freight on the trailer. During this Coke showed up to pick up their credits. Because Coke and Pepsi both had to pick up all the product from all their displays. And so Coke got started on that, we finished up the truck, and then deli had showed up. So we got deli backed in, and coke took a long time. Coke must have showed up around 10, and we weren't done with him until noonish. Because you can put product in by eaches or cases and coke's credits are always off. Which throws off cost. Which throws everything else off. We had a 700 dollar difference. So Bonnie had said to hand-key it when I asked her a few days ago. But her computer wasn't turning on so I went and had to do it in the office. We still had a difference, this one of 30 dollars. So I went and we talked to one of the coke reps who called another one of the reps in. I was just going to leave the invoice open so Bonnie could do it tomorrow but they had to either close the invoice or take everything back off the truck. I called the other store and their receiver wasn't there and the backup didn't know. So I told Zhaun and we got Bonnie's phone number and I called her and she said a 30 dollar difference is ok. Ok, so we asked the reps who said go with it and so I had to go re-hand-key it all in. Finally we were done.

Then I had to offload deli. The driver had gone to take a nap. So I ate one of my sandwiches while I was getting my cooler ready. Zhaun saw me and started laughing. So I told him I didn't have time for a break and he said I could take one after I got Pepsi checked out. Yeah. At noon why bother?

Dustin came in at 1 which was nice. And I did my order and the markdowns. I was done with everything in dairy by 2:15. But pepsi wasn't checked out yet. He had called his truck and the truck was on it's way and he said he'd scan it in while he waited for the truck. But then we realized that he didn't have the costs of anything so he couldn't scan anything until he had the costs. His truck ended up not getting here till 3:20. In the meanwhile I did my scanouts and loaded returns. But they really moved fast on scanning in cause I was able to clock out at 3:40.

For a while my back was really killing me so while I ate my second sandwich I rubbed at it and I think I fixed it cause it stopped hurting. My little finger, however, still hurts. And my legs are sore. So basically I worked 9 1/2 hours without a break. Which I didn't tell anyone, and I guess Zhaun thought I would take one after the truck. And everyone was too busy to notice I'd skipped it. I've skipped breaks before, like a few years ago when the front end was mercilessly calling me to check I skipped my break every day for about a month before they let up on me enough that I could start taking breaks again. I could take my break. (we're allowed three 15 minute breaks but I prefer to take one 20 minute break, because I don't need more than one break a day and I do enough chatting with Bonnie to make up for it) But that's 20 minutes. When faced with the choice of either skipping my break or working 20 minutes overtime I think I'd rather skip my break because I would rather be at home.

The remodel has everyone in a bad mood. They're starting to paint the walls and I can but pray the color they're painting them is a primer and not the finished result. Because they chose the most horrid shade of yellow I have ever seen. It's like the sickly color you see in a hospital.

I don't know where just about anything is anymore. I think I have a basic idea, but I don't know. And I've had people complaining to me about not finding anything. Well I can't find anything either. And some of their choices make no sense. I can see greeting cards in the seasonal aisle, especially Christmas cards. But I don't know why beverages are being moved onto the other side of nonfoods. They belong with grocery.

We also had some corporate people running around. So I don't get why they're coming back on Friday. If they were coming today no one freaked out about it. But they're all freaked out about Friday. And corp's coming to visit on Friday. Bad, bad timing. The 5th. On a Friday. The 5th is one of our biggest shopping days out of a month. Plus we've got the remodel going so nothing will be pretty, and that's what corp wants to see. They don't want the reality of a store, they want the pretty, shiny, fantasy. And of course Bret is worked up about it. He had Joe washing my dairy doors. As if that'll help get ready for Friday. By tonight they'll be filthy again. Zhaun wants me in at 5 on Friday, which is good. Usually he wants me in at 4. Maybe he realizes there's not a whole lot I can really do to make anything look better. But this means I'll have probably another hour of overtime unless Dustin comes in at 1 again. I know Dustin is never scheduled earlier than 2 when he's the night guy, but I am so glad he comes in at 1 all the time. I need to tell him that sometime.

I still need to make dinner. I would let Victor make dinner but the food my tummy says yes to is tuna helper (fettucini alfreado) and I want it the way I make it. Victor makes it different than how I make it. But it'll be ok cause I'll sit on my stool while I stir and I'll read my book.
