Naughty

Work:
So if we thought the colors were bad before wait until you hear what they did to meat dept! They got new cases, which they're sleek and nice. But they're dark green. I mean, it's a nice green. But still.

Yesterday corp came just as I was about to take my break so I decided to skip it. I actually could have taken it, but Halsey was walking around! eek. He's the company president. (of smith's, not kroger) I didn't know he was coming, no wonder Bret was freaking out.

Bret really was freaking out bad, he made Brittany cry. I wanted to offer her sympathy but Jules was doing a good job of it. However I like Brittany and I get the feeling if I wasn't so unfriendly we'd be closer, but I never got a chance.

Bonnie's been in a bad mood because of her computer being down still. I hope it's fixed soon.

I ended up working 9 1/2 hours yesterday. I went in at 5, and around 12:30 the deli/frozen truck showed up so I was offloading him until 1:30, and by that point why bother leaving? Dustin came in around 2, and I ended up staying to deal with the Darigold milk. You remember I said that our corp wasn't accepting the Darigold upcs? They did finally and we got some in yesterday. (probably has something to do with Halsey coming to visit our store) But the pricing is all wrong. The 2% gallons are more expensive than the whole gallons!!! And the 1% came in without a retail price. So I had to call Victor cause Fred's business card was at home (I mean to put it in the important phone numbers book in Bonnie's desk but I keep forgetting), so I got his number and called him. He checked and he didn't have a price for it either! So he had to call around and find out what the price was, and in the meanwhile Julie put it into the system at the same price as the 2% gallons. And I was leaving just then so I had told Fred to call Julie back. Then I had to hang the tags for these items. I don't know why anyone buys Darigold milk. The cheapest gallon is 3.89 and the most expensive is 4.39. Compared with the Smith's brand at 2.50.... But we did finally get the Darigold egg nog in, I told Dustin I would find a home for it on Sunday.

Zhaun was doing the schedule as I left and he said I would probably work 6 days next week. *sigh* Overtime pay = More money for building my house. I'm probably getting Tuesday off. If I guess right this means that the next week I'll get Sunday off and possibly Wednesday. Bonnie always goes on vacation the week before Thanksgiving so I usually end up working 6 days that week, 5 doing ICM stuff and 1 for dairy.

And just as I left Julie was handing out maps of the store. Nice, we could have used those much earlier than that. People kept asking where stuff was and all any employee could do was shrug, say they had no idea, and then walk the store peeking down every aisle.

Also, whoever painted the wall over my dairy didn't do such a great job, they dripped on my doors and I spent some of the morning chipping paint off. Nothing major, just tiny splatters I hadn't noticed some days ago when they first painted.

Soap:

Here it is, my little-over-three-day soap. I forgot to take it out of the molds yesterday. Oops. No harm done, it's 3-5 days in the mold anyway. I just noticed there's a hair on the bottom left on the soaps. It's not one that was in the soap, it was laying on top, I know cause I put my hair up and checked the soap as I was pouring it to make sure I didn't get hair in it. Plus I would have seen it when I was shaving the soap.

Here is one mold's worth of soap, some flipped up some flipped down. I use the potato peeler to soften the rough spots and trim the edges, mainly around the top where the soap spilled over the side of the mold.

Here is all the shavings after I was done. There was some more in the bottom of the molds, stuff that stuck to the mold, so I scraped that out and into the pile later, while these pictures were loading. For now the shavings are in a yogurt container awaiting whatever fate lay before them. Not sure what that will be yet.

Here is all my soap. The four in the back are leftover from the batch I made in July. They're of a very similar recipe and I think they look nicer.

Here is all the new soap in the pan and drying. I come along every few days (whenever I remember to) and flip them over so all sides dry somewhat evenly.

And here is the pan I use for drying. It was never used for that purpose, however, I just wanted something to dry in and while buying stuff for the cats I noticed this cheap little pan and decided it would work perfectly.

Video Games:
Target has an awesome sale going on video games that ends today, buy two get one free. 14.99-59.99, so we took advantage. We went twice. Last night we got two wii motion pluses (packed into sports resort and carnival games) and some car racing game. A few days ago we got the newest Metroid game for Victor (which he says is very angsty so I might have to play it), and Force Unleashed II for me, as well as Naughty Bear. All these games came to a grand total of 200 dollars. Yes, it's a lot of money, but consider: Wii motion pluses on their own are 40 dollars. So all in all we saved probably close to 150 dollars thereabouts. So anyway I guess you'd be surprised to hear I haven't touched Force Unleashed II yet because I've been so caught up playing this delightfully demented game.

I've only played the first two levels because there's just so much replay value. Plus the challenges. Each level has it's own goal, but the challenges add other goals. Like there's the Kill Them All (don't let any escape) challenge. And then the Friendly Challenge (don't hit anyone). The Speed Run. The Insanity Challenge which I haven't done yet! I want to do an Insanity Challenge. If you scare or traumatize a bear enough they will snap and go insane. After this it only takes one more scare to make them commit suicide. Which is especially funny if they're armed with a bat or stick cause then they beat themselves to death. Or if they have no weapon they hyperventilate until they pop. I don't like the score multiplier, it means running through the game as fast as you can to get the most points. This game is funnest when ignoring your points. The only really bad thing is the camera. It makes you sick after a few hours. Even Victor gets sick, and games don't really make him sick. I'm the one who's used to getting motion sick. Portal is horrible for that (in fact I can say that Portal is actually THE worst game I've ever played when it comes to getting motion sick, otherwise that game is total awesome), I can't play more than a little while without feeling sick. All my Sim games do it to me which is why I cycle through them. It's why I stopped playing Fallout 3. Anyway, lovely game, but except that it was free I would not have bought it at the 50 dollars it originally was. It's more of a 20 dollar game. Maybe 30.

  1. wow. i love your soap tutorial, that is a great skill. if i could get over my fear of chemicals i would try it. i wonder if the ones you liked better didnt have more oils in them.

too bad you can't treat corporate guys like human beings once in a while. running around in fear is stupid.

  2. Hi, I'm sorry, I totally missed this comment. I'm glad you liked my thing on soap. :) I'm thinking the ratio of peanut oil to olive oil was better in the batch I did like, I really didn't want to have to put so much peanut oil in, but it was all I had on hand.
