Brutally Cold

Someone else beat me to buckets today. I saw them in this guy's cart. That's ok, I have about fiveish that I got last night and that'll be plenty to start with. I have two egg boxes too. That will keep me busy tomorrow.

This morning I stepped outside to start my car around 7:45ish and the moment the cold air hit my I started coughing it was that cold. And it was icy. Once I got to work I overheard something about -15. It's about 6 right now.

Oh, I just wanted to add that I was eating candy hearts just now and some of mine are a tad smudged. So I was trying to read this last one and this is how it went:
Me, "...Buy Me? Seriously?? *peers closer and angling for better light* Ooh, Luv Me, ok."
Eh, it was funnier when it happened, it doesn't sound so funny now.

Work:
Last night I was filling yogurt when this woman came along having an argument when who I determined must be her husband. She kept repeating herself over and over, that she wasn't going to leave the store to go get him because he hadn't wanted to go to the store at the time she'd left. And she spent the longest time saying the same thing and I was starting to drone her out when I heard her say, "Do you know how hard it is to shop, pull the cart, put things into the cart, and hold this phone at the same time?" So... don't have a phone, or turn it off when you're shopping. Or don't spend so long arguing over something that stupid. Just ask the man what he wanted from the store.

Yesterday was a fairly good day. I was scheduled a lunch but skipped it cause I knew I'd be over anyway so why take a lunch and work 10-7 when I could skip my lunch and work 10-6:30. No one even noticed and I indeed needed that half hour.

Today Bret was back and I was all nervous and a little fearful but it went ok. I wasn't really in the mood to have it out with the Kreameries guy but I insisted that I could get past the crowded area just fine and he said he wasn't going to move pallets and I said you didn't have to and he was all, "well it must have been cleared by time you did it" and I said it wasn't. That about ended it. I told him we had to put his empties outside cause we ran out of room because he didn't pick them up. He was fine with that, seemed happy, which ensures I will never put them outside again. I wasn't the one who did that anyway, Steve did and he intermixed them with Meadowgold's crates cause I guess he doesn't know they're not supposed to be mixed.

Michael the reset guy was going to take down the seasonal door and move it to being another door of 2%. Being that I'm going to run out of 2% tonight I wasn't looking forwards to it, but he changed his mind and said he'd do it in the morning. I don't know why or how I'm almost out of 2%. Around first of the month I ordered 100 cases for a Saturday-Tuesday stretch and it went just fine. Last Saturday I had 130 cases come in and I'm going to run out. It's insane. There's no guessing it, but if I get it wrong I get in trouble. I just hope Bret leaves around 5 or 5:30 and then Zhaun throws some in the morning when the load comes in. Bret will find out though, probably. Since Meadowgold doesn't deliver till 7-7:30 and Bret comes in at 7. And since I ran out today I know I'll be running out on Wednesday. Always happens that way. At least this time I can blame it on there being two doors of 2% instead of one.

This morning Bret, Julie, and Zhaun were standing around complaining about how everyone had overtime last week, how we going to be over this week, we can't be over, etc etc, and then today I was about 15-20 minutes late leaving and Bret decides he wants to walk the dairy with me and then wants me to wash a door that's really bad.

We did get caught up a lot today though, I was able to sort and organize. And I had time to figure something out. All those crates of half gallon orange juice regular that the warehouse keeps sending me? Yeah, I wasn't billed for any of it. I haven't been billed for orange juice in over a month and yet they've been sending me two crates minimum per load, that's three times a week. That is awesome. All my fears and worries about inventory have disappeared in light of this. That's about 16 dollars per case. That means I am just rolling in positive shrink. That plus my egg game, and my mistake of submitting a credit for 10 cases of orange juice I later found, and a few other tricks, I'll have a good inventory after all. Like just today, we have fridge packs of yoplait and one was broken on one end. I couldn't sell it. So I scanned it out, ripped it open, and took all the good cups of yogurt out and put them on the shelf. Every one of those that sells is positive shrink. I don't carry one flavor, the Cranberry Raspberry, so I grabbed some Red Raspberry off the shelf and took them to Virginia to put into the system for me. I had grabbed a regular raspberry in the hopes that she'd think the factory/whatever had messed up and sent me some cranberry-raspberry mixed in with a case of regular raspberry. She didn't ask, but I didn't say either. Oh, and the Darigold Egg Nog has been coming up at .15 cents cost these last few months, when the real cost is 1.34 or something so that means I'm making over a dollar of positive shrink on each one, technically I'm supposed to turn that in, but if corp didn't catch it oh well. There's all sorts of ways to make your inventory. As I told Victor once, I got to my position through hard work. I keep my position through cheating and lying.
