I was up late last night. I decided I wanted to make fondant and it looked easy enough so I thought I could do it quick after work and then use it today. I was up till 10:30. eeek!!! I wouldn't have kept going except I didn't want to waste the ingredients. I almost did stop at one point while kneading because it felt like I was going nowhere, and then suddenly it came together. It's in the fridge right now and I have no idea if I did it right. I'm going to make a cake in a bit here and I'll know in a few hours. I think a big part of my problem is that I was using a 10.5oz bag of marshmallows and the recipe wanted a 16oz bag and I forgot to adjust the water for this. I did remember to adjust the vanilla extract, though, so at least it's not overly flavorful. I hope my large cutting board is big enough to roll it out on because I don't really have any clear counters or table space anywhere else and I don't feel like cleaning that much right now. The kitchen does need a good sort-through sometime, though. Next time I'll use marshmallow fluff.
Today's Daily Dare game was Dueling Decks. It's basically War but there's three categories your card can win and you get to pick which category to war with. I played on hard so if I lost a round the computer picked the next category until I won again. To get the 18,000 points needed it's basically a game of patience where you make sure you neither win nor lose until you reach 18,000. If you go into it with the intent to win right away you wind up with not even half the required points. Cause you score based on how many rounds you win. I'd never played the game at all before today and I easily got 20,700 (I believe, might have been 20,800) points on my second try. And the only reason it took two tries was because my first try was a play-through on easy mode to see how the game worked. So glad to have had an easy game for today. I was a bit daunted when I saw it was a game I'd never played before. Now back to Nova Defender, lol.
I was going to get more buckets from work but there wasn't any. Well, there was, but they had a "save for" note on them for someone else. That's ok, I'll try again on Friday.
