I scratched up the pipe with sandpaper to hold the glue better.
Kind of a bad picture but you can tell where I attached the wire with glue.
Lots of progress here. The wire is now wrapped, that is my grip. It's a little messy but it's supposed to go along with my vest. I also attached that strip with the holes in it around the pipe, but that doesn't hold so well. So I took a black wire-free hair tie and wrapped it around that to keep it in place. The hair tie is not glued.

Kitties were playing on the floor where I had just taken the first picture so I moved to the couch. This is one front piece.
